New Delhi – India has accused Pakistan of giving ill-treatment to Kulbhushan Jadhav’s mother Avanti and wife Chetana, who met him yesterday in Pakistan with a glass screen separating them. After returning home yesterday itself, they met Foreign Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj today. After the meeting India alleged that Pakistan ill-treated both of them and the whole thing was a farce. Jadhav’s mother was not allowed to speak in Marathi, their native language, and whenever she switched to her language out of habit, her intercom was interrupted. They were asked to remove bindi and mangalsutra, they were forced to change the clothes and his wife’s footwear pair was not returned when they left. It’s also learned that when they were leaving some over lookers taunted Jadhav’s mother as ‘terrorist’s mother’.
Pakistan’s military court had sentenced Jadhav death sentence on accusation of espionage, while International Court of Justice has stayed the order. India has maintained its stand that Jadhav was retired from naval forces and he was abducted by Pakistan from Iran, where he had gone for his business interests.
