Islamabad – Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav, who is in Pakistan’s custody on the charge of spying, was allowed to meet his mother and wife today. This meet took place at Pakistan’s foreign affairs ministry office. However, what shook up the nation was the picture of a glass wall between Kulbhushan Jadhav and his family. They could see each other, talked over intercom but could not touch each other. This extra cautious measure taken by Pakistan is being criticized heavily.
Earlier, 30 minutes were allowed for 30 minutes, but it stretched to 45 minutes. Pakistan has claimed that it allowed the meeting to take place on humanitarian ground. A video was released by Pakistan after this meeting, in which Kulbhushan Jadhav is seen thanking Pakistan for giving access to his family.
India’s Deputy High Commissioner to Pakistan J P Singh was also present during this meeting. This is the first time Pakistan has given any consular access to Kulbhushan Jadhav. His mother and wife returned India immediately after the meeting.
