Vicnhur (Nashik) – Removal of export value on onion has resulted good value for the crop here. High quality onion fetched value of Rs. 2001 per quintal during auction in Vinchur market of Lasalgaon APMC today. For last week onion was lying around market ground, farmers were anxious for not receiving good rate to their crop. The rate remained low due to export charge levied against the onion. However, on Friday, the government took an important decision to bring this charge to naught, which resulted in curtailing of fall in rate of the crop.
Earlier the same onion has fetched rate up to 3700 per quintal, which nosedived after government levied export value of 850 dollars per ton. This charge was levied to keep the onion prices under control in domestic market. Though the consumers benefitted from this decision, farmers were made to pay the price for it. With removal of the export value, farmers have get respite. After tomorrow’s holiday, farmers are expected to get good price on Monday as well.
