Mumbai – Former cricket captain and MP from Rajyasabha Sachin Tendulkar has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has demanded that the athletes, who have represented India at international level and have performed well, should be given benefit of government’s health schemes. Sachin has raised the same issue before sports ministry and health ministry earlier too. Now he has written to Prime Minister.
Tendulkar has pointed out that financial condition of many athletes is not good and they are unable to pay the hospital bills in their advanced age. He has argued that they can’t afford good medical facilities due to financial constraints, citing an example of Mohammed Shahid, who was part of Gold winning hockey team at Olympics. Mohammed Shahid died a few days back owing to illness and he could not afford hospitalization.
