Hyderabad – Surnames are important, and they are important if you are in politics or want to join politics, this was the message given by none other than Varun Gandhi , BJP MP and third grandchild of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He was addressing students’ workshop here. Ironically, Varun Gandhi’s elder cousin Rahul is being criticized for carrying forward Gandhi family’s dynasty.
It is difficult to enter politics if you don’t have correct surname and godfather, Varun Gandhi said citing his own example. Had I not been Gandhi, I would not have become MP at such young age, he said. He also expressed regret.
