Sangli – Smita Patil, daughter of former deputy chief minister late R R Patil got engaged today with Anand Thorat. Like Smita, Anand also belongs to a political family. He is nephew of Ramesh Thorat, former MLA of Daund and Chairman of Pune District Central Co-operative Bank. Anand himself is in construction business. The function took place at Anajni, a hometown of late R R Patil in Tasgaon tehsil in Sangli district, which was attended by many big names from political and social circles. The duo will tie the knot next year on 1st May.
NCP president Sharad Pawar is understood to have taken initiative for this alliance. Smita is likely to resume her political career from Pune, who is currently heading women wing of state unit of NCP. We have exclusive photographs of the function.
