New Delhi – Congress’s outgoing president Sonia Gandhi has given indications about retirement from active politics, although mischievously. Party’s newly elected president Rahul Gandhi will take charge of the party tomorrow morning. The obvious question remains is about Sonia Gandhi’s future role in the party. When she was asked about this, she said that she will retire! Though she cleared it soon that she is not retiring from active politics. She is 18 months short of completing her fourth term as an MP.
Sonia was at the top position since last 19 years, longest in the history of Congress Party. However, since 2011, she is not keeping well. Though she was president of the party 2014 elections were fought under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership. She had kept low profile for some years now. She did not campaign in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh elections too.
