Mumbai – Mumbai police has increased security for singer Sonu Nigam, after they received a tip of threat to his life. Intelligence Bureau has passed on the information to Mumbai Police that some radical groups are planning to target Sonu Nigam at any public place or promotional event. Sonu was at the center of controversy last year after he had tweeted against use of loudspeakers by mosques for azan. After that tweet many radical groups had openly threatened him. The controversy increased so much that he left the microblogging site.
Sonu Nigam was also criticized for his oppose to play National Anthem in cinema theaters. He had said that although he respects National Anthem, but it is wrong to play in cinema theaters and restaurants. In the same breath he’d declared that he respects Pakistan’s National Anthem too and would stand for honor of Pakistan and Pakistani people
