Farmers to Go on Strike Again

Aurangabad – Agitated farmers in the state are going on strike again. They will hit the street from 1st March to press their different demands. Farmers’ leader Raghunathdada Patil made the announcement after meeting of steering committee, which decided to go on non-cooperation agitation. Farmers alleged that the government is not serious about farmers’ plight and making light of their issues like loan waiver, bollworm problem, MSP for cotton and soybean, etc.

During the agitation period, no farm commodities will be allowed to be sent to cities, informed Patil. Earlier in July, farmers had gone on strike causing major distress to the daily livelihood of the people and the government was forced to take the cognizance of the same. However, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was accused of trying to split the committee by preferring one set of leaders over other. Hence the farmers are likely to be more careful to avoid any kind of split which will give advantage to the government, so unity of the steering committee will be observed keenly in coming days.
