Rahul Gandhi elected Congress President

New Delhi – With completion of last formality, Rahul Gandhi is declared new Congress president. Rahul Gandhi’s elevation to higher post was a long awaited event. In Rahul, Congress will have new president after 19 years, the post was earlier held by Sonia Gandhi, the longest served Congress President.

Rahul Gandhi is Congress party’s 18th president; also he will be sixth from Nehru-Gandhi family to lead the party. He is taking over the rein when Congress is at its weakest in both Parliament as well as organizational level. Rahul agreeing to lead the party before Gujarat results are out is seen as his increased confidence. His next big test will be assembly elections to be held in is five states at the end of next year, that include Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh – all ruled by BJP and Karnataka – ruled by Congress.
