New Delhi – It was last day of the winter session of the Parliament, both houses are adjourned sine die. The biggest achievement of the government in Lok Sabha was passing of triple talaq bill, which happened to be biggest disappointment of the government in Rajya Sabha. Congress supported the bill in Lok Sabha, but it changed its position in the upper house, where it pressed for its demand to send it to Select Committee for rethinking on provision of three years of imprisonment for erring husband.
Rajya Sabha’s chairman Venkaiah Naidu expressed regret over loss of 34 hours of the house due to many disruptions. Next session of the parliament will be budget session, in which this government will present its last full budget before going to general elections in 2019.
